The work of the conference

The United Nations General Assembly is the main decision-making body of this organization. It is composed of all member states and provides a unique forum for multilateral discussions on all international issues covered by the United Nations Charter. Each of the 193 member states of the United Nations has equal voting rights.

The United Nations General Assembly has also made important decisions for the United Nations, including:

1. Appoint the Secretary General based on the recommendation of the Security Council

2. Election of non permanent members of the Security Council

3. Approve the United Nations budget

The conference holds regular meetings from September to December each year, and may be held as needed. It discusses specific issues through specialized agenda items or sub items, and ultimately passes resolutions.

The seating arrangement in the conference hall changes every session. During the 78th session (2023-2024), the North Macedonian delegation will sit in the first position in the General Assembly Hall, including in the Main Committee (all other countries will then be seated in alphabetical order).
